Walker Lake, Nevada

___________________
My load of onions which I picked up in Parma, ID and hauled to Buena Park, CA led me down a course through Nevada backroads, in this case US 95. I left Fallon behind me and when I came upon Walker Lake, I checked my GPS to make sure I was still in Nevada. A beautiful and rather large lake it was that I was driving along. This lake may rival Klaune in size. Supposedly some rather large trout have been caught here. Signs indicated one should watch for desert big horns as well. How deep-I am not certain but the nearest town of any size has the U.S. Navy Undersea Warfare Base located in it.

Was there in October, Dutch took a long swimming break in the lake. This is also the community (Hawthorne) that I got in the middle of the army convoy and through it was an escort. Although it is in the high country of Nevada, it is a likely target if there was ever an invasion. The third largest ammuition depot in the U.S. is also located here, that is why the Navy Undersea Warfare School is there, it only takes 3 SEALS to protect the depot instead of a battalion of soldiers. A good ruse of rersources. May have to go back for athrid trip to look for bighorns in the desert.

Deep water?
Undersea Warfare Base?
I bet the trout are BIG, but I wouldn't want to be in a boat when "they" surface....

another thing - i noticed that, on many blogs, was mentioned a post to view on Iditapoem. i did not get a
notice of said posting on my comments section, and was wondering if you forgot my blog address, or something..?..either way, i read the sweet poem about your victim, um, Cindy. nicely written - emotion and incentive with words. have you submitted anything to poetry.com (or, others)? publishing may be in your future - as well as a convention in Vegas for award presentation...
