LOCKED IN
Locked in from Fall to Spring
By Winter's icy grasp
An Arctic night and a wind so chill
That it seems to make you gasp.
But never shrinking from the cold
That can snap the strongest steel.
Overcoming Winter's wrath and fury
In a season that causes oil to congeal.
Tis the land that tests the best
To see if you've got the grit
It tests, teases, mocks you
To see if you're worth a shit.
And if you pass the test
And if you make the grade.
The land will deliver up it's bounty
For that is how you're paid.

Well, the race has been run, a good
one considering this year's winner,
Lance Mackey, is the dual crown winner having also taken the Yukon Quest. The race is still on to see who grabs Red Lantern. He is
currently at Eagle Island.

If you are here at this time next winter, during the Iditirod and you bring a mule north with you. You should ride the Iditirod, there is no rule against it as long as you do not interfere with
the teams. I wonder how long it would take for a pack of huskies to devour a mule? That could be your mark of fame, the first man to ride the Iditirod on a mule! I figure sixty days should give you plenty of time. If you had eight of them, then they could pull a sled for you and keep up with the dogs. I would ride with you but don't excpect me to do any pushing, feeding mules, or any other chore. I wonder if your dash board navigational system would work on the trail, we might need that.

I don't know, I had GPS on my
microsoft virtual flight up the
trail and missed Anvik to end up in
Aniak. A mule has a trail sense better than man and would find the
way. He might cavort with moose
enroute however.

What does cavort mean? Is that something like "boinking"?

RangerBill574 said...

I suppose it could be boinking. Boinking and braying, boinking and braying, boinking and braying.

The dash(or drag)for Red Lantern continues with the back of the pack in Elim. King got the Gold Coast award I see and Buser the first to the Yukon award.
