Iditirod will start on Saturday, Anchorage 10:00 am. Restart in Willow on Sunday, 2:00 pm I had planned on running it this year, but Goldie does not have the stamina that she once had. She may make it three miles out of Willow, then it would be basket time all the way to the first check point. With her current weight, might be a hard pull. Ruger is ready, a little overweight but should have that lost by the time we got to Rainy Pass. Dutch was all excited, disappointed now, he figure that out of that many dogs he would find the bitch he has been looking for. I am ready to run, good shape, been exercising alot walking back and forth to the kitchen to get my coffee. Perhaps next year.
Iditarod is off and running but then most of my avid readers already know this. Just checked the standings, Mackey is in Rainy Pass and the next 24 mushers are on the trail between there and Finger Lake. That 24 includes the likes of DeeDee, Jeff King, John Baker, Aliy Zirkle, Jesse Royer, Mitch Seavey.
